L'Homme Hanté

L’Homme Hanté (The Haunted Man) is an interactive digital installation, recreating the illusionist principle of the Pepper’s Ghost, used by Charles Dickens.
The installation consists of a bench, allowing us to sit down in front of the mirror. The trompe-l’oeil ghosts of the past, of whom we shall soon be a member, are sticking together in the space.

Thus, the public has to find his own place between bodies, build with them the space. This chimeric staging of the place of memory questions our report to the others and to the temporality.

This illusion reflects the image of a world, where it is necessary to compose with those who were and those who will follow us.
Others live in us, force us, make us creative : we are member of a creative process, of an inevitably incomplete project.
If we have to live with the others, we also have to create with them, realize their presence and come fruition.

Source

Source is a fantasy of transfiguring elements, transforming the material without touching it, influencing the world in the ultimate point of its physical materiality.
So it is about of sculpturing the water of a fountain, of transforming our relationship to its substance, of manipulating it beyond its appearances, like a magician.
The act of sculpting water gives consistency to reality, where forms reflect strengths in perpetual movement. Thanks to interactivity, the metamorphosis becomes tangible, sensitive, immediate.
Thus, it is about revealing a sensitive unity, which would crystallise the intention of our gestures. Water establishes a whole aesthetic materiality.

SOURCE was elaborated thanks to a consortium between :

  • the collective Les Yeux d’Argos
  • the research MINT team (research laboratory INRIA ; National Center of Scientific Research ; University of Science of Lille)
  • the firm of fountain-makers ATLANTID
Microcosme

Microcosme is a motorized audiovisual art installation, where light and material mix around the audience. Water fountains, mist and projections in movement immerse the audience in a poetic universe.
Circles, triangles, spirals, squares,… transform the space and evolve according to the rhythm of the sound creation. Video projections are diffracted and put in volume by the projection of water in ponds. In trees, the light gives the illusion of movements. In the smoke, the light beams draw architectural volumes.
